Jesus said, “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and soul and mind.’
This is the most important, the first on ANY list.
But there is a second to put alongside it:
‘Love your neighbor as you love yourself..”
Matthew 22:37-40
A personal note...
I’m a numbers person. Not because I think I’m crazy intelligent or because I like to show off by doing math in my head (Although I am a true nerd & enjoy chilling out solving math equations just for fun - where my nerd buddies at? holla. )
I’m not a numbers person because I like to be boastful or proud
but simply because numbers make sense - they’re easy to figure!
Put in this number, add this number and you get this result. 1+1 = 2 Bam, every time. No matter where you’re from 1+1 will always add up to 2. The math equations become more complicated as you progress through calculus & trigonometry but there’s still only one correct answer. It’s often said that math is the universal language for that very reason.
Wouldn't it be nice if we had equations like this in life?
Healthy diet + exercise = long life. Well yes, but not always.
Hard work + dedication = financial success. Well yes, but not always .
Faithful marriage + commitment = happy family. Well yes, but not always.
There’s nothing in life we can truly depend on and for me that can be pretty scary.
Except when I recall that one thing is always for certain. The salvation that is freely offered through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. That something you can count on. Always. Maybe you’ve never heard the good news of Jesus, maybe you have heard it but have gotten far away from your walk with God. Wherever you are now, God will meet you, but you have to believe in God's son- Jesus, His death and resurrection, repent of your sins and allow Him to be the savior and Lord of your life.
It seems so easy and really it should be- but the truth of the matter is that choosing to walk close with the Lord is NOT always easy, in fact it can be downright hard sometimes. It takes dedication, sacrifice and commitment. Seems like everytime you decide to get right with God the enemy be coming at you HARD...like, oh hey I heard you were trying to better yourself and the world around you - let me just squeeze right in there and mess that up.
I've made plenty of mistakes and even tho I’m trying my best - I am human after all & I'm sure I will make mistakes in the future (hopefully no grammar mistakes.) We are ALL human and we ALL fall short of the glory of God (ROMANS 3:23)
No matter how hard we try we WILL inevitably fall short - some of us more than others haha - no judgement I’m there too sometimes.
But hey… listen, even tho none of us are perfect, we have the opportunity to receive unending grace, mercy + love through the sacrifice of JESUS - which inspires me to keep trying my BEST + gives me an unshakable peace during all the storms of life.
So, let me be real with you... the truth is, yea, it's going to be hard. I’m not gonna lie to you, there’s going to be challenges.
BUT! if you’re reading this it means you’ve already survived all the challenges that life has thrown at you. You might look back and wonder how did I make it? It wasn’t in your own power, you obviously have the breath of God’s favor already spoken over your life. If you believe this to be true & want to accept Jesus as your personal savior just pray this prayer out loud- let the world know - let all the angels hear it 🙌🏻 >>> “Dear Jesus, I admit I’ve done wrong, I repent of my sins, I want to do better. Come into my heart, I make you my Lord & Savior.” <<<
Once you accept Christ as your savior - God promises we will NEVER be alone again
ISAIAH 43:2
When you go through deep waters,
I will be with you.
When you go through rivers of difficulty,
you will not drown.
When you walk through the fire of oppression,
you will not be burned up;
the flames will not consume you.
A closing note- always keep it real. Just be real. We don’t have to perfect and we don’t have to pretend to be perfect. LOVE is what the world needs, not self righteous perfectionists.
This walk of Christianity looks different for everyone & that’s OKAY.
If you're a christian + you cuss sometimes - just try your best not to. If you lose your cool now and again, hey it happens, just work on it + always seek to improve. We all have sin tendencies, temptations etc but >>>(louder for those in the back) you don't have to live under the control of that sin or that temptation
...Jesus came to save + he's still in the business of saving souls. Through his death and resurrection
He destroyed the power of death, loneliness, fear, shame & guilt 🖤
- No, NONE OF US ARE PERFECT - course not.
The good news is that God knows we aren't perfect and loves us anyway, not only loves us, but wants to have a personal relationship with us. How 'bout that? The God of the UNIVERSE wants to know us, He cares about us...that is insane if you sit and think on it for a minute.
“...Faith hope & love, but the GREATEST is love.”
1 Corinthians 13:13
